Kevin Ross, RN, BSN:
Kevin has a range of experience in health care and human services, including a couple of years as a nurse in the Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) at Johns Hopkins Hospital In Baltimore, MD.
In fact, Kevin’s drive to learn from, and surround himself with the best, motivated a move to Baltimore solely to pursue a career opportunity at Hopkins, where the Cardiology department is ranked #3 in the nation by US News and World Report (2011-12).
Never one to settle also meant a strong desire to combine his nursing experience and passion with his interest in technology and enthusiasm for entrepreneurship. These seemingly disparate interests are what led him to start a medical consulting company
in 2007. Over the last four years Spire Health Partners has evolved into an organization that provides advocacy services to a broad population of special needs adults and children. The company also provides wellness mentorship, child care health and corporate wellness.
Kevin is passionate about helping underserved people and communities get the medical care and attention they deserve and need. To that end, he is involved in a variety of projects from small and grassroots to larger scale initiatives all with the focus of
ensuring the health and safety of the clients being served.

The What and Why of Innovative Nurse:
As you’ve probably already deduced, I’m a R.N. and an entrepreneur. I’ve had the fortunate opportunity to put these two together. For the last four and half years I’ve been building my company into a successful consulting business that’s afforded me the pleasure of blazing my own trails.
The how, what, when, and why pieces about my work will start to materialize as you get to know me here in this community. I didn’t have the opportunity to have a mentor while I was getting my business off the ground, but I’m hoping to provide that support to all of you out there that are looking to do the same. Think getting business advice from a nurse is unique? Not really. Nurses have an amazing ability to assess (triage), and so, I bring the expertise of being able to triage your business.
Since the inception of Innovative Nurse, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many other entrepreneurs out there, and have since started other companies and strategic partnerships. Along the way I’ve been able to just figure things out, but let me start off by saying that none of it was easy, some of the tasks to get here were arduous (and still are), and it’s an ongoing process to maintain it, but ultimately I wouldn’t trade it for any other career.
The content within this community will consist of a variety of topics from numerous contributors. What you’ll find will be a mix of nursing topics, entrepreneurship, branding, marketing, innovative practices, technology, and the occasional personal story that provides an opportunity for the community to connect on another level. We’ll be reviewing products and services that we’ve tried and/or currently use to make our businesses run a little smoother, and of course mention the ones that have not been a good fit, but keep in mind that some of it is based on opinion and you ultimately have to choose what works for you.
The community is growing, and part of this growth is due to other content creators that contribute to Innovative Nurse. They are authors, bloggers, vloggers, consultants, entrepreneurs, and technology enthusiasts.
